What Elder Care at Home is all about?

Elder Care in home (also known as Geriatric Care) is about taking care of your loved oned who have grown old and needs special care when their body is not capable of doing everything that needs to be done for day-to-day living. With age, the health may have deteriorated and needs someone to take care or their medication, diet; maintaining their hygiene and provide assistance in bowel movements including changing their diapers or bedpan.

The people who provider such care, we call then as attendants / caretakers and sometimes in general as a nurse. Many of them even specialized in providing home care to elderly. They extend a helping hand to them and can provided long term care, be it all days long or during night or 24x7 resident / live-in care.

Sometimes elder care is limited to companionship where your loved one is healthy but maybe has no other relative to live near-by. It can be because the son / daughter or the family is staying someplace away. In such a case, we would never want to leave them alone for the reason we well understand. There needs to be someone who can care for them 24 x 7 just like the families do for each other.

So whether alone or not, trained and experienced caretakers can always be of great help to the elders as they feel motivated with somebody always around dedicated for their special care needs. More importantly, attendants can even take care of small needs which we as a family sometimes miss or our elders never ask for seeing ourselves busy..
